Alabama 3 Day Diet :: History and Orgins

The Alabama 3 Day Diet was rumored to be created by a University and or local hospital in the Birmingham AL area. You-On-A-Diet contacted various hospitals and universities (including St. Vincent's). We interviewed several staff members and none were able to confirm the origins of this diet nor did any hosptials claim to use this particular diet for their patients. We were told, depending on the nature of the emergency, most hospitals will create a "very specific" menu to assist overweight patients with losing weight based on their "individual needs". The Alabama 2 Day Diet has also been called

Alabama 3 Day Diet :: Conclusion

A diet is only as good as the reliability of its source. The Alabama 3 Day Diet seems to be a variation of other diets such as: American Heart Association 3 day diet, 3 Day Cardiac. and others. You-On-A-Diet does not encourage the use of this diet due to the low daily calorie levels and dehydration risks which usually lead to larger health problems. You-On-A-Diet offers a free Basic Workout Program and free Basic Diet Plan.

Diet is tolerable but don't expect to lose 10 pounds in one week. That probably won't happen. Incorporate a work out program with this diet for the best results. Otherwise, no complaints, I loved it. Good luck.

I lost 5 pounds TOTAL with this diet and I followed it to a T with no modifications. This is the second time I have tried this diet. Last time I lost 6 pounds. I am convinced you will NOT lose 10 pounds on this diet because I did not lose that amount two times. Also, each day that I was on this diet I did aerobic cardio for 50-60 minutes each day. I am just baffled as to why I did not lose more weight if this diet is so great.

I went to my doctors today concerned about my weight. I'm 4'11 and 198lbs. My doctor handed me a sheet outlining this diet. I'm going to start on Monday and hopefully it will work for me. And for the people saying it's not safe to do, my family doctor recommended it.

The diet works. After three days, eat sensibly, exercise, take vitamins in between the diet also. A drop in weight often shows up after the three days, if followed exactly. Eat raw and cooked veggies. I went down 4 dress sizes using this diet every few months. It helped me with portion control!

It appears to be the way we SHOULD be eating. Portion control is right on. The only thing that would make this diet perfect would be snacks in between meals. I am trying this tomorrow and going to divide up the food to have less at dinner and use that food for snacks to keep my metabolism from slowing down. If you go longer than 3-5 hrs w/o food, your body is said to go into starvation mood ie: slow metabolism. Note the original diet says to have no carrots at dinner on day one. Also cottage cheese is a substitute for tuna. I substitute an orange for a grapefruit, bc I hate grapefruit. And another great idea is to slice up the apple and bake it, then top it with the ice cream. Tastes like apple pie ala mode. Who would cheat on a diet that allows that? :) This concept seems to be based on yoyo diet theory which controversially tricks your metabolism while allowing less calories. Three days of low cal food and then four days of a bit more calories. I LOVE IT! I think if anyone substituted the ice cream for yogurt, the hot dogs for lean beef and added a bit more low fat protein, this would be the ideal way to eat. One more thing, I substitute toast for ezekiel bread which has no flour in it. I also divided the ice cream into two servings vs one, bc I feel that is too much sugar for the body to handle at one sitting, especially bc the beets are eaten at the same sitting (sugar overload).

My cholesterol has dropped drastically, I have lost 23 pounds, and will continue the 3 day diet. I use salmon in the pack instead of tuna and on the weekend I broil the salmon.

I have used this diet several different times in the past with great results, consistently losing 3 to 5 pounds a week. It has been the best diet I have ever tried, I think because it tells you exactly when and what to eat during the diet and eat sensible the other 4 days. It just doesn't get any easier.
